About Us

The Training and Placement Cell, IIIT Bhubaneswar aims at creating a link between the students and the corporate sectors. It works to train the students with effective problem solving ability, personality improvement as well as good communication skills. We are a team comprising of placement executives, students and faculties.We facilitate full-time and internship recruitment for 300+ graduates from across 5 different departments ( Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering ) with a vast diversity of talent. We have students across many programs namely B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D who are looking forward to challenging and exciting job opportunities in industry and academia.

Training Programmes

The goal of Training & Placement Cell is to Provide employment opportunities and world className training to IIIT Students in leading institutions. The Cell is well equipped with ample infrastructure in Terms of classrooms, GD rooms,Conference Room, Auditoriums for Pre Placement Trainings, Seminars etc.

Pre-Placement Trainings

IIIT Bhubaneswar provides its students with pre-placement training sessions to groom them into individuals of competence to compete at the global level. The students take classes to sharpen their quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning abilities. Rigorous mock group discussion and personal interview sessions are held to broaden their stance. Understanding the significance of the NAC-Tech in IT/Engineering industry we have made it mandatory that every student focusing on recruitment to take the test. In addition the placement cell organizes regular tests to evaluate the students on the basis of their preparedness in quantitative aptitude, reasoning, GD-PI and technical skills. Virtual campus drives are also conducted to warm up the students prior to their attending the placement drives.

Seminars

IIIT Bhubaneswar arranges seminars and talks with different eminent people and leaders from around the corner. It encourages students to participate and learn new industry-related techniques and process from the leaders themselves. It has been actively organised in a regular time period. Understanding the significance of the latest technologies in IT/Engineering industry we have made it a point that every student attends the seminars and gets to know about them. These seminars help the students in making good research projects and get experienced before joining the company.

Internships and Projects

The institute also encourages its students to work as interns in various organizations to gain practical knowledge in their respective fields because we understand that experience always adds a feather to the hat of success. Students indulge in rigorous technical trainings and project work to keep them updated with latest happenings in the field of technology. It has been a part of the curriculum since its inception. The training our students undergo enable them in excelling at various fields and even achieve pre-placement offers at various esteemed companies. In the year 2015, 11 students were selected for internship at Dell and in the year 2016, 20 students were selected for the same. It will be our pleasure to assist you in recruitment process to build a prolific relationship and meet the challenges ahead.

Selection Process
The admission process is designed to attract best talent in our programmes. Over the years the quality of the students, measured by the JEE Score or GATE score, admitted to the Institute has been going upwards. The Admission to B-Tech. Programme is done through the JEE conducted by CBSE. The Institute conducts its own counselling process for the admission to the various streams. The Institute uses stiff criteria for eligibility of the students for admission. The Admission to M-Tech. Programmes is open to students from all across India. Institute uses Gate Scores as well as its own Entrance Test for admission to M-Tech Programmes. In addition to the written test score, aptitude of the students is tested to Personal Interviews

The sprawling campus of IIIT Bhubaneswar is established at the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in an area of 23 acres. className rooms at IIIT Bhubaneswar are equipped with the projectors and latest PCs. The Institute has multiple specialized labs such Computer Architecture, Database Lab, VLSI lab, MATLAB, Engineering Drawing, Chemistry Lab, Physics Lab, Java Development Lab, etc. Our computers are powered with Ubuntu Operating System and Open source development is also encouraged. 24 hours internet facility is available both at hostel and campus. Library at IIIT Bhubaneswar have a vast collections of books journals and magazines. IIIT Bhubaneswar is a member of IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Xplore Digital Library and many more.

Recruitment Procedure
  • The Placement Office sends invitations to companies/organizations along with relevant information.
  • Company/ Organization sends in a JAF (Job Announcement Form) containing details of the job offer (pay package, place of posting, allowances and other bonuses). Fill the JAF for Recruiters which the recruiter has to sign and send it to the T&P Cell.
  • If the company/ organization wishes to conduct a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) they can sent a request along with the preferred dates to placement@iiit-bh.ac.in.
  • The filled JAF is then made available to the students, along with any other information furnished by company organization.
  • Placement Office allots dates to companies for campus interviews based on various details given by companies. The company/ organization confirms the dates with the Placement Office.
  • Interested students show their willingness to appear for the recruitment process of a company by signing its JAF.
  • Companies can request for resumes of interested students and shortlist students.
  • Companies come down to the campus on the allotted date/s and conduct tests and/or interviews according to their recruitment process.
  • The company/ organization is required to furnish the final list of students preferably on the date of interview.

Our students have earned recognition in prestigious programs such as the Amazon ML Summer School, Google Summer of Code, national-level hackathons, top coding contests in platforms like CodeForces, Leetcode, CodeChef and many more.

SOA Quiz Wiz

2015 and 2016 batch students Akash Choudhury and Satwik Raut won the 'SOA Quiz Wiz', a national-level quiz competition among undergraduate students, at the SOA University here on Sunday.A large number of teams, from the State and outside, participated in the gruelling contest of which six teams survived the preliminary round to qualify for the final.

Google Summer of Code 2013

2016 batch B-Tech Computer Science student Anirudha Bose worked with Michael Goffioul to remove the dependency and improve the binary packaging to install OCTAVE on Windows or Mac OS X in this Google Summer of Code.

Best Paper Award in ICACNI-13

Gourab Chowdhury worked as a research fellow under the prestigious, ‘Mentoring of Engineering Students by INAE Fellows 2015’ programme. He was among the 38 students who were selected from all over India to work on research projects during the summer of 2015. He has worked on, ‘Gene Selection and Evaluation in Microarray Datasets using Natural Computing’ at the Machine Intelligence Unit, ISI Kolkata under IEEE fellow Prof Sushmita Mitra.

Mentoring of Engineering Student by INAE Fellow

2013 batch ETC branch students ( Swastik Mohapatra, Sidhanta Mohanty, Satya Narayana Dash and Prasant Swain) have presented a paper in Springer International Conference on Advanced Computing, Networking and Information, Raipur. This paper( ICACNI-238) has been awarded as the best paper in Advances in Images and Video Coding session.

Google Summer of Code 2014

Asish Panda worked with Albert Shih, David PS, and Steven Christi in the Google Summer of Code-14 under the organisation Python Software Foundation (SunPy) on the project titled, “Re-Implementation of SunPy WCS as SunPy co-ordinates using Astropy’. Subhashish Pradhan worked with Albert Samuel Thibault in the Google Summer of Code-14 under the organisation GNU Project (GNU Hurd) on the project titled, “Porting Valgrind to GNU Hurd’. Anirudha Bose worked with Vassil Georgiev Vassilev in the Google Summer of Code-14 under the organisation CERN on the project of creating a platform-independent tool for continuous integration and packaging of Cling, based on LLVM and Clang.

Google Summer of Code 2015

Aroonav Mishra worked with Mark Kretschmann and Mamarok in the Google Summer of Code-15 under the organisation KDE on the project titled, ‘Porting of Amarok to Qt5/KF5’.

Texas Instruments India Analog Maker Challenge-2015

Soumya Ranjan Sahoo, Ashok Vamsidhar Panda, Devasish Sahoo and Chhotrai Soren won the competition and were awarded with eZ430- Chronous Development Watch and a TI Certificate.

GDG Bhubaneswar 2017

Three teams qualified for the grand finale of GDG Bhubaneswar Hackathon 2017. Sai Saswat Sahu and Avijit Nanda won the 2nd position. They won a cash prize of H5000.

ACM ICPC Amritapuri Regional 2017

Team “tillwecollpse’ with its members Prateek Pattnaik ,Bibhu Prasad Pala and Naweed Imroze have participated and recognized. Another team,’Pseudo_algos’ with its members Shubham Rath, Aman Gupta and Shivank Tripathy have participated and recognized.

Google Summer Code 2017

Shibasis Patel worked with Tammo Jan Dijkema, Gijs Molenaar under the project “Python-Casacore (Open Astronomy)’. The project was about improving the python-Casacore code-base, making it more robust and write mox tat and porting its python bindings from using: python to pybind11.

UnitedbyHCL Hackathon

Team named “PLUTOAR’, from IIIT BHUBANESWAR, consisting of Shourya Pratap Singh, Ankit Kumar Panda, Susobhit Panigrahi and Ajaya Kumar Dash participated. They won the first prize among 13,000 participants across the world. They were awarded a cash prize of 5,000 USD.

ACM India Compute 2018

Two of our ACM Chapter members – Saurabh Kumar and Rama Krishna Pinnity – represented the Chapter and secured the third position in the poster competition at ACM India Compute 2018 which was held in Chandigarh.

UtkalHacks 2019

Team ‘Marvellous’ from IIIT Bhubaneswar secured 2nd Position in the UtkalHacks 2019 organized in Ravenshaw University on 15th-17th March. The winning project idea was ‘Smart Classroom – Academic Assessment using Sentimental Analysis of Students and Teachers’. The project received huge appreciation from the judges for this innovative project. Smart India Hackathon 2019

Team ‘HIMANI’ secured the 1st Position under the problem statement of Manipal Health Enterprise in the Smart India Hackathon, 2019 organized by Ministry of HRD, AICTE on 2nd – 3rd March, 2019. The winning project idea was ‘Smart and Optimised Parking Solution for Hospitals’. The project received huge appreciation from the judges and its a great innovation and a step forward to the increasing concern of availability of optimised parking spaces in hospitals. The members of the team were: Sweta Kabi (3rd Yr, ETC) Baibhav Kumar (3rd Yr, ETC) Arijeet Satapathy (3rd Yr, IT) Sweta Swagatika (3rd Yr, CE) Kaushiki Agarwal (3rd Yr, CE) Tapaswin Padhy (3rd Yr, CE).

National Hackathon InnoBuzz at VSSUT Burla 2019

The team consisting of 2 members Tapaswin Padhy and Sweta Swagatika, won the 2nd position in the National Hackathon InnoBuzz at VSSUT Burla.

Rakathon 2021 by Rakuten Inc.

Idea of furnishing home with a virtual tour of the house with just a 2d Layout/Map won 2nd prize in Rakathon 2021 by Rakuten Inc.Team Members: Sidharth Suvankar Nayak, Ananya AprameyaRuchika Mishra has been placed 3rd in the 32nd DAE All India Online Essay Contest on Nuclear Science & Technology – 2020, organized by Department of Atomic Energy

MIT COVID19 Challenge

India Turning the Tide was a 48-hour virtual event aimed at tackling the most critical issues that had arising out of the covid-19 outbreak. The team KYB comprising Ankur, Barenya and Kartik won in track D for the best utilisation of Government and private funds to re-activate the informal economy tackling the problem of poor credibility of NGOs. While Zestha Patra from team Whistle Winds won in Track J dealing with poor quality control and fraud during the pandemic for devising an efficient solution for the management of complaints.Team Members: Ankur Khandelwal (3rd Year, CE), Barenya Kumar Panda (3rd Year, IT), Kartik Kumar Singh (3rd Year, IT) and Zestha Patra (3rd year, CE)

AUUM Platforms

Auum Platforms is a Product Based company based out of Bhubaneswar with a vision to build the best product which will reach every person across the world. It is founded by 6 IIITians: Sai Sambit Nayak, Sidharth Suvankar Nayak, Ananya Apremeya, Dibyajyoti Dash, Vitthal Gupta, and Tapaswin Padhy. It is recognized by Startup Odisha & Startup India and is DPIIT-affiliated. As a 1st step toward the vision, the team’s 1st Product “Swasner PPE” is in the market which is a revolutionary new PPE that creates a private atmosphere for the user completely isolating from the external environment. The team started working on this during the critical times of COVID-19, they were making the most affordable ventilator using chamber-based ventilation. The technology was widely accepted across the globe and got lots of media and institutional recognition. Later, they decided to use the same technology to make a user-friendly product for a larger mass and help them in staying safe from Airborne diseases & pollution. The team aims to achieve a 10X growth and make more such innovative products to make the entire college and state proud

About

The Institute conducts a number of contests and competitions to foster a spirit of competitiveness among the students. The students are encouraged to participate in the well-known tech-fests and cultural fests in the country. The students have been consistently participating in such contests in large numbers and have been winning these contests.
